Sharks Lift Off with New Signing

The first of the DBL Sharks new signings has been agreed in the shape of 6’9 forward Shaheed Davis.

Davis, who graduated from the University of Central Florida is the first of the new additions the Sharks will make this season adding to power house Mike Tuck.

Highly regarded for his athletic ability and versatility on the floor, Shaheeds presence at the Sharks will add strength to the core of last seasons’ Play off winning outfit and Coach Lyons is thrilled to have secured his services.

“I’m very excited to have a player of his size and skill set on my team, I cannot think of a better option he can play multiple positions if required he just brings a different angle to the team, “said Lyons.”Shaheed Davis

Discovered by the British Basketball Combine devised and hosted by Atiba Lyons in Englewood, Florida where he impressed coaches in attendance with his ability to score the ball and defend numerous positions.

“I am very excited to start my career in Sheffield. After meeting Coach Lyons and playing for him at his combine I understand what he wants from me and the winning traditions of the Sheffield Sharks. It helps to have had a try out experience like the combine with International coaches present to give you a real context of what’s expected” continued Davis. “I am looking forward to getting started and hopefully I can make a good contribution”.

With the BBL fixtures now out in the open, it looks like a bumper start to the year with the opening game against Play Off rivals the Leicester Riders on Friday 23 September. Keeping with tradition of the Championship and Play off winners competing for the first scalp Lyons continues to form his roster.

“We are almost there, we have had a couple of twists and turns and there may be a couple more before we complete our team roster, but I am comfortable with how I believe it will look in very positive about the season ahead”.
