Thornton departs Sharks as Injury List Grows

The DBL Sharks regret to announce the departure of American forward Kellen Thornton following a back injury that will not recover for the duration of the season. Coupled with some difficult personal circumstances in the USA the club and player have agreed mutually for Thornton to return home immediately.

With an unprecedented roll of injuries the Sharks poor run of health extended not only to Thornton but added Zach Gachette to the list who will be out on the side-lines for a number of weeks with a broken finger.

“It has been unbelievable and we really thought we had seen enough injury heading into the New Year but apparently it’s not over” said MD Sarah Backovic. “It has been a tough year with all the changes, however our core team have coped extremely well and despite all the health issues we are competing”.

On a more positive note Colin Sing was declared fit by the Sharks leading shoulder specialist Mr Shahane of the One Health Group, following a slap lesion repair and shall return to training with immediate effect.

The Sharks will face a month on the road starting with the London Lions away at the copper box next Wednesday and will not be back in Sheffield until they face the Leicester Riders at the eiss on Friday 10 March.
