British Basketball League Regular Season

With the international window out of the way, the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks get right back at it with two big games in the coming week. Thursday is another ‘protect the fortress’ night when an improving Plymouth City Patriots are the visitors to the Canon Medical Arena. Then on Sunday, a challenging visit to British Basketball League Trophy winners Cheshire Phoenix awaits. The Sharks displays have been on an upward trajectory so these two games are not to be missed!

Ones To Watch

Tyrell Green – Plymouth’s own ‘Green Machine’ went to work just before the international break as the Pats took down an in-form Leicester side. His 33 point haul saw him make 8 of 10 shots from three point territory as well as going a perfect 9 of 9 from the charity stripe.

TJ Atwood – Has been a statline filler for the Devonians all season long. Averages 16.1 points and 7 rebounds per game and shot 79% on his way to 22 points as Plymouth beat the Riders by 109-93.

Jacob Wiley – Another consistent performer down in the south west, Wiley claimed a big 19 point, 14 rebound double-double over the Riders. Averages 14 and 6.3 over the season.

Cameron Copeland – The mid-season signing goes about his work usefully and Plymouth were +26 while he was on court against Leicester. Ended with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.

Ones To Watch

Laquincy Rideau – The ‘Nix put a big marker on second place in the standings with a fine win over Caledonia before the break. Rideau shot 66% from deep to finish with an eye-catching 26 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and a block.

Aaryn Rai – Cheshire’s All Star game starter was another standout in the 100-93 Caledonia win. The do-it-all forward’s 24 point, 8 rebound, 4 assist outing was typical of the eyecatching displays he’s put up all season long.

Maceo Jack – The Phoenix skipper uses the minimum court time to make the maximum impact. 5 of 9 shooting in just over 17 minutes took him to 15 points as Cheshire defeated one of their closest rivals for second place.

EJ Stephens – Had a big game against the Sharks in the Trophy dead rubber to demonstrate that Cheshire have a lot of weapons, even from the bench. Added 12 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists in defeating the Gladiators.

The Sharks game against Plymouth on February 29th will be the third time the Sharks have played a game on this date. Two former Sharks who share February 29th as a birthday are Jimmy Langhurst and Eddy Brownell.
